Great customer service! Very friendly and they strive to educate the customer about the parts to maintain on a car. They do tend to recommend services that are not necessarily needed at that time, but will give you lots of information.

My mature (1997) Subaru Legacy Station Wagon (yes, one of the last, real station wagons, not an ungainly, high drag, high rolling moment, cross wind unstable mini SUV) is maintained in close- to- new condition and appearance by its owner(s) through use of a proper "autohaus" (garage), weekly owner checks and regular preventative maintenance, repair and worn part replacement by the meticulous attentions of Diablo Auto Specialists.

Having recently moved from Sacramento where I had a longtime auto mechanic, I conducted a bit of background research on possible places I could get car services here in the Walnut Creek area and discovered that Diablo Auto Specialists had a good reputation - and they did not disappoint! I found them to be professional and responsive; Paul explained everything in plain terms and they worked hard to get my car serviced promptly. They were very interested in customer satisfaction and I would not hesitate to return to them when the next time comes.

This is the second time I have taken my car to Diablo Auto Specialist and I was once again happy with the care, service, speed, explanations and professional & friendly treatment that I received from both Tim and Paul.

Note: To everyone who drives, get out your OWNER's MANUAL for heaven's sakes, and get to know it. Study your service schedule and follow it. Drivers, make sure you discuss EXACTLY what you want with servicers when you show up...have a list. Talk it over with your servicer before you leave your key. Now, onto the review!History:First time I visited was 2007 and Tim was running the shop as head honcho. The honestly, quality, and kindness of Tim himself has not changed, and as of April 2011, Tim is still a fixture in the shop. He is patient, he explains things, and he is still wonderful. Present: An adventure !DAY 1: 2011. I called and got a 60k service appointment for the next day. This is good. I went in and showed them my list of needs, per my HandyDandy Booklet from the dealer which Honda gave me when I bought my car. I always have my booklet stamped and signed for major services, and instruct the provider to please write in how much brake pad I have left, tire tread, etc. The purpose: the booklet summarizes what you need at each interval, which corresponds to the Owner's Manual. New guy, Paul S., told me to come back and all would be taken care of. However, something was lost in communication. Despite the list. : Two services on the list 1:change brake fluid in reservoir, 2:clean and grease battery terminals, weren't done. Now, they don't have a dot on manual under 60k, but they were on MY list from the booklet, and those were the services I came in for. And you know what? There was corrosion on my battery terminals, and my brake fluid wasn't clear anymore, it was going brown. They needed TLC. Took car home, but later looked to my print out to see it was short those couple services. And I thought I heard new sounds emerging from my steed. Day 1 end: SADNESS.DAY 2:Returned in the morning to ask them to complete my list of services, and to examine my car for a sound. They pointed out that what I wanted was not on the 60k dot list per my manufacturer. Yes, they are correct, sure. But I pointed out it was on the list of my booklet, and that was what I wanted when I walked in. They obliged, and in fact, UPGRADED it! Not only was the fluid in the brake reservoir changed, but the system was flushed out! THANK YOU. Better still, I told them about the sound...a tumbling noise, soft rattle I was hearing at acceleration. Turn a bottle of vitamin pills upside down, slowly. That's the sound! They 1 cleaned my battery, 2 changed ALL the brake fluid in the system, and 3 took the time to put the car through its paces, and look it over for anything loose and check for debris in the air filters. PS - After finding nothing, I'm thinking it could have been change in my glove box...going to listen carefully for the next few days. And Day 2, no additional charges for the upgraded work and the look-seedrive testing. Day 2 end: HAPPY CUSTOMER!! D

Always professional service and advice from Diablo Auto Specialists. They will not always be cheapest for any particular service, they do not create service items that are not necessary. I never have to bring the car back to be re-repaired because they did not do it right the first time. I have brought many cars here and sent my mother as well.

A big thank you to Paul and Ryan at Diablo for ignoring what 99% of people were saying was wrong with my car and taking the time and effort to find the true issue. My car (with 144K miles) is now running like new and Diable likely saved me over $2000 because they don't believe in just swapping parts due to a hunch or even an educated guess. You guys have gained my trust and I'll be bringing our cars to you for all service, routine or otherwise. Thanks!
